Don Poland Consulting is pleased to announce that Donald J. Poland, AICP has been accepted into a PhD program in Urban Geography at the prestigious University College London (UCL) in London, England. Mr. Poland has been interested in pursuing a PhD for a number of year and felt that this was the right time in his career and personal life to take on this course of study.

UCL is ranked fourth out of the top 200 world universities by Times Higher Education. The UCL Geography Department is also recognized for its high quality of research. In the 2008 UK Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 25% of the geography department’s research activity was rated 4* and 40% 3* combining to give one of the very highest volumes of 'world leading', and 'internationally excellent' research in the UK geography community. UCL has placed in the top group of geography departments in every national research review since they began in the 1980s.

Mr. Poland will be studying in the Cities and Urbanization program. His advisor is Alan Latham, PhD, Lecturer in Human Geography. Mr. Poland has been accepted as a part-time non-resident student. He will be conducting his research here in the United States and traveling regularly to UCL to work with his advisor.
